New Town and Dean Village tour
Just a stone's throw from the Old Town is the city's historic New Town
Tour Description
Just a stone's throw from the Old Town is the city's historic New Town, a major eighteenth-century development. During our tour we will explore the grand Georgian-era residential terraces studded with private gardens, along with some of the city's most iconic memorials to former inhabitants, and enjoy panoramic views. Along the way we will enjoy the spectacular architecture, and uncover some of the true hidden gems that most visitors never see, and explore one of Edinburgh's most stunning suburbs - Dean Village. Dean Village is a charming neighbourhood with many colourful cottages, pastoral greenery, and a rushing river that all come together to paint a beautiful and peaceful village straight out of a Victorian storybook. Dean Village was originally a mill town and you can still see traces of its heritage in stone plaques, millstones, and the amazing architecture of the houses. Close to the village you can also browse exhibitions in the Dean Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Both buildings were previously converted and refurbished to be used as art galleries and many of their exhibitions are free. During our tour we will also walk along the Water of Leith through the beautiful gardens that appear along its path. It's a magical walk through nature that will show you a very different side of Edinburgh. Price is per private tour with a maximum of 8 participants.
